The house

CocCone makes one thing: bags you can carry every day without thinking about them.

The name is the whole brief. A cocoon is small, soft on the inside and firm on the outside — which is exactly what a bag should be. Room for a day’s worth of things, a lining that does not scuff what you put in it, and an outside that keeps its shape on the fifth month as well as the first.

What we look for

Every piece is judged on the same three points before it is offered here.

  • Leather that ages. It should soften with use and take on a patina, not crack or go shiny.
  • Hardware that stays tight. Zips, clasps and rings are the first things to fail on a bag; they are the first things we check.
  • A size for a real day. Big enough for a phone, a wallet, keys and the small things — not so big that it becomes luggage.

How we sell
